Exhibition:
This piece defines my past relationships with females and how closely repetitive all of them were. Also the amount of wash, rinse repeat process that I went through for each of the relationships. I wanted to present an emotional piece and the emulation of my artistic inspiration, as well as demonstrating my artistic ability on dry point. Inspired by Andy Warhol with repetition of meaning, feelings, materialistic things, people and etc. I was interested in learning the culture of Pop Art and Andy Warhol.

1) Process and Ideas
ideas-
plants, life in general, problems and achievements
Rose's can tell my story of relationships with females
The artist Andy Warhol with repetition
Sticking with the story
Each rose could represent the females.
Process-
1) Think of an artistic Inspiration
2) Draw quick sketches of the inspiration
3) Put the glass on top of my sketch that I decided to use
4) Trace the rose out
5) use ink and cover the glass completely
7) dip the water colored paper into the water bin for 6 minutes
6) after that wipe the whole glass clean.
7) Grab a large paper and put the glass on top and grab the water colored paper and place it on top of the glass.
9) After cover the top with a clean paper
10) place the covered glass on wood thats on the press and then roll till the paper reaches the other side

2) Sketches
I would say that this Dry point was a mess, because of the ink and all the things that had to be done in order to produce the artwork. I didn't make any changes with my dry point before starting etching. There were moments where I wanted to change the idea of the roses, and use another creation to define my meaning. But I figure that it went well with my meaning so I stuck with it. I didn't like the way the Roses turned out it didn't have enough details, so went in and scratched a little more, so i could get those details on my Roses.

5) Artistic inspiration/cultureAndy Warhol was my artistic inspiration. Warhol I believe was one of the best artists during the 20th century and throughout out his time his art grew even bigger as years went on. Especially the Campbell's soup cans, which I thought was one of Warhol's most creative and thought out piece created at that time. I decided to emulate his art work of the cans, because I really wanted to apply the receptive aspects of the artwork and I wanted to find a piece that went well with my meaning. The piece Campbell's soup cans was a piece that made the world question who Andy Warhol was as a person and an artist. Another reason why I chose to emulate the works of Warhol, because of the bright colors that he used on the artwork. I think people were more attracted by the repetition and color of the work. I was felt the piece was best to illustrate my thought of repetition.
I specifically chose Pop Art because of Andy Warhol and the work today is still used to show repetition of certain materials and people. The movement show a lot of different sense and color variations as well as repetition. Pop Art shows sentimental value of famous people and materials. Also feelings and to show fine lines of color. When I look at Pop Art , I get that feeling of the old days where people dress all colorful and had awkward clothing. This inspiration allowed me to go back to my past and see the constant repeats of my relationships with girls. |
7) Reflection
Throughout this process and repetition of roses, I present Roses. I did not have any problems doing this art project, i was able to figure out what I wanted to present to others and once i knew what I wanted to do, I had my Plexiglas ready to be inked and pressed. The time management for me was fairly easy there were't any issues working on the project. There were things I haven't noticed when I was printing my dry point. i hadn't noticed that the roses were backwards, so I did not bother to try and go back and redraw the roses into my sketch book and waste a perfectly scratch Plexiglas. Things I would add on to the work is color, to make it more like I emulated Andy Warhol's work. Also to bring out the culture of the work, which is Pop Art.
Things emulated from the works of Andy Warhol was the repetition of materialist things, people, and etc. I believe my artwork summarizes the work of Andy Warhol. What I could've done that would've actual presented the emulation of Andy Warhol's work was color that was one thing I didn't decided to do, because I analyzed the way my art came out and thought it was well presentable for viewers. Other then the color, I believe the demonstration of my emulated work was well present.

9) Act questions
1) Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and it's effect upon your artwork.
I was able to clearly identify the causes and effect relationship between my inspiration through the emulation and the development of repetition that my inspiration used throughout their work.
2) What is your overall approach (point of view) the author ( from your research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
The overall point of view of my research on Andy Warhol, I believe Andy shaped and defined Pop Art as a whole and I was able to take Warhol's techniques and use it for my benefits.
3) What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas cultures etc?
Most overall generalization I have discovered about Andy Warhol, was that life for him wasn't easy; facing a sickness that came when he was young, also being hated for who he was and the way he acted. Andy Warhol was wonderful and brilliant man who appreciated Pop Art for what it was and he embrasure every aspect of his life in a most vivid way.
4) what was the central idea or theme of your inspirational research?
The overall theme of my research was Gender issues, Graphics, and scale. Andy Warhol faced a lot of hate, because he was gay and that the way he looked was discriminated, he was shot and almost died from the incident.
5) What kind of inferences (conclusions reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning) did you make while reading your research?
Most of the inferences made were about the meaning behind Andy Warhol's piece. I got most of his meaningful pieces, but I was most curious about the color that was used in Warhol's work.
