Digital Collage
This piece was made to define my past and the man I am today. Instead of trying to introduce a technique and an art style, I wanted to bring out the memories of my past. In addition, I wanted to show the overwhelming emotions that I have kept inside of me. Inspired by Salvador Dali’s Persistence of Memory, I used the same ideology that Dali used with the melting clocks and used it in my digital collage. Most of my images were self taken and only one image was researched online; due to location, I had to capture the image myself.
1) Process, Ideas, Artist.
- Some developing ideas I came up was using cherry blossoms for my digital collage and sticking with nature.
- Making myself melt.
- Looking up into the trees, might have to critique the image.
- using cherry blossom throughout the artwork.
- Analyze the images being use and make sure they suit the digital collage.
- Surrealist.

4) Before doing my collage, I did my research on specific things that I wanted to do for my digital collage, like a melting affect or a face of some sort. The tool to make certain things melt wasn't difficult to find and/ or learn. I came up with my final choice with how I wanted my Digital collage. Start up Photoshop and start working on the collage. The canvas most be 24x36 or 36x24. The resolution of the piece should be 170. First thing that came up into my mind was how will i be able to present my feelings using Photoshop, how will this work compare to The Persistence of Memory?, and how can till my life story to others? So I decided to use cherry blossom as the main source of telling my feelings, I analyzed Salvador's piece and thought about what should stand out the most and concluded it would be me. I used a cherry blossom wallpaper as my background and change the design into a negative affect so that people could look at it and could probably predict that the background was a negative part of my life. Then to emulate the artwork I used a melting affect on myself that and it was an amazing tool to use for my digital collage. instead of using one melting affect of myself , I decided to use two of me instead the back of me would be the feelings and memory kept that i've kept inside of me. The second one of me would be the external version of me the me people see everyday. I used plenty of tools to achieve perfection on my digital collage. The tools i used were the paint bucket, quick selection and zoom. That was how I was able to emulate the persistence of memory and present my own work.

6) Art inspiration Salvador Dali was my artist inspiration. Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter during the 1920s. He was known for having a message in his artworks, the paintings told stories or either told feeling. The specific painting I decided to emulate is The Persistence of Memory, an oil painting. The painting shows repetition with the melting of the clocks as well as value within the Artwork. I chose this painting because of how well the meaning of the painting stood out. I'm very fond of the works Salvador has come up with, especially The Persistence of Memory, because of how detailed and the use of different color variations within the painting itself. This painting helped me make my artwork, because it gave me an idea of what colors to use, what images to make stand out and also what kind of feelings can i bring out when looking at my art piece. I know the types of feelings wanna bring out my goal is to see if others can get that same exact feeling as well.
