This Interior painting was created from Acrylic paint. The painting was created to bring out the surrealist movement and to put it into a culture that doesn’t have any surreal designs. The initial goal was to emulate the style of surrealism and incorporate it into the Japanese household style. Inspired by individual interior designs and two paintings Science in Surrealism and The Persistence of Memory.

Reflection:Overall I really enjoyed creating an interior design painting. I really like the colors that I used to create the painting. The difficult part of this painting was making sure everything was very clean. Creating a landscape I am able to paint freely, but creating an interior design painting there's a lot of measurements and line work to do. Which I was capable of doing. Some of the things I would change with the painting is the table with the stairs I think it was out of place and the measurements were a bit off. I relieved that after I had the floor finished.
Strengths:
- Clean measurements -Smooth brushstrokes -Clean finish with the clock -Strong meaning. -Ceiling is well painted Weaknesses: -Lines not clean enough. -Waterfall not well painted -Depiction of trees needs to be worked on -The walls could have more details. -The 3-d aspect of the work needs to be worked on. |

Artist inspiration/Culture:Two paintings I chose to inspire from are Science in Surrealism and The Persistence of Memory. I decided to go with the first painting, because It had very smooth finish to it. I really enjoy the environmental aspect of the painting. The checker floor caught my attention right away, the line work is nicely done. I like the way the painting shows the brush strokes. The painting object in the middle and the floor look to have a smooth finish. But the tree and and the wall doesn't have a smooth finish. I can see the brush stroke.

The specific painting I decided to emulate is The Persistence of Memory, an oil painting. The painting shows repetition with the melting of the clocks as well as the value of the Artwork. I chose this painting because of how well the meaning of the painting stood out. I'm very fond of the works Salvador has come up with, especially The Persistence of Memory, because of how detailed and the use of different color variations within the painting itself.

Experimentation/development: |
The process of creating this work was very easy. I had measurements planned out for how the walls and ceilings were going to be. Also for the sliding doors, I had to make sure that when I painted I had to make all the little squares the same and that the lines were straight.
I started off creating the ceiling, the checker design was quite difficult because I needed to the depth perception right when it came to space and the viewpoint of the work. After the ceiling was done and got the right depth. I started painting in the floor. It wasn't that hard for me. Making sure I didn't get any paint on the table and the pillow seat. I covered them with painters tape and when I got done painting in the floor. I removed the tape and went on cleaning areas on the floor that didn't get painted completely. After the completion of the floor. I went on painting in the trees, adding the waterfall coming out of the wall. Adding the staircase on the table and then the pillow seat. Now the hard was painting in the sliding door. I had to use a lot of painters tapes in order to make sure that my lines were clean and also straight. At first, I was painting in one square at a time, but I did not have the time to do that so I went all and painted the entire sliding door and just remeasured everything again and it was much quicker than painting in one square at a time. The final part was the clock and it was much simpler than I thought It was going to be. I mixed a lot of black and white together because I wanted to make sure that the clock was realistic enough. |
It was quite difficult to paint in the lines for the floor and also the sliding door. So I decided to use painters tape to make sure I had nice clean lines. For the entire work, I basically used painters tape so that I had perfect lines. To make sure I had a smooth texture I continued to constant layers so that everything looked very clean.
ACT Reflection:Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause effect relationship between your inspiration and its effect on your artwork?
The melting clock is emulated from Salvador Dali's painting Persistence of memory. The checkered floor can be seen on the ceiling of my artwork. Also the tree on the left side of the painting was inspired by Science in Surrealism. Honestly I wasn't inspire from the work. What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your inspiration? What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc. while you researched your inspiration? That surrealist art is revolved around dreams and the ability to tell stories. The art is focused on the literature aspect of art. Surrealist art can be justified in any context. What is the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?. I would say the overall theme around my inspirational research would interior comfort and dreams that revolve around. What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research? I have inferred that Surrealist art can be manipulated into anything. |
